The great poetic melody penned by kavi Jaidev in 12th century “GEET GOVINDAM” possess a sublime honour in indian litreture from the age of ancient to the contamporary.Among all the litrary creation based on Shri Radha Krishna the GEET GOVINDAM reflects a different dimensioan of love and sexual lust with the devotional aspect as well in its finest and highest appeal of philosophical melody.In this poetic effort each and every letter script and phrases is wet by the fine melody either it is considered individual or in a complete impact with its intellectual sense and improvisation.That is why the GEET GOVINDAM is praised as a MADHURA KAVYA and RAAS BHAGAWAT.
The whole poetry deal the emotion of PREM ,VIRAHA AND SANDESH ,to SHREE KRISHNA by RADHA from her SAKHEE , that envokes the inner expression conciousness and mental state of a beloved .The element of PREM and VIRAH is constant but it illuminated in a variey of mood changing with poetic meter. The portraying of spiritual love make its profile lyrical continiously.Kavi Jaidev depicts Radha as a supreme soul ,Krishna as abody, Sakhi as a meditation and Gopies are as the enchantment of life.This ideation makes this poetry higher to higher , having seamless bound of description and it proves that it cant be translated and written again with the same temprament of poetic abilty and engravings of melodic rendering.This Sahitya is realy an example of aeisthetic blend of sexual love and spiritual content and that makes it unique.in the matter of characterization the poet sketch an impression of ASHTANAYIKA in the character of RADHA during different situation the story flows.The ASHTANAYIKA is an expression of eight different mood and constitution of a woman with her love mate.these are, PROSHITPATIKA, VIPRALABDHA, UTKANTHITAA, KALAHANTARITA, SWADEENPATIKA, VASAKSAJJA KHANDITA , ABHISARIKA.
This poetry has a great influence to all the poet,sculpturer, artist,music lover .and dancer to derive artistic sense ever.All the cllasical dances of india really admired and accepted the verses and poetry of GEET GOVINDAM to execute their dancing charm besause it contains the high value of BHAKTI and SRINGAAR.
As adancer i felt whole the poetry of GEET GOVINDAM with my inner core.With the effort of last 8 year i compiled the whole poetry in a 3 hour solo kathak performance.In my presentation obviously the theatrical synthesis is mine but the lyrical melody of this poetry will ever inspire me to get the zenith of ths eternal poetic melody. i will be gratefull to shri Subas Pani whose composition was the background of my dancing treatment with allthe blessings of my guru Pt Birju Maharaj.
